Thanks Barry for visiting.

The first settlers must have missed home and decided to call the new settlement Ipswich to remember home.

The original name was Agawam, an American Native Indian name.

If you would like more history check this link - http://www.ipswichma.com/directory/history.asp

A unique fact is that Fifty-eight houses in town were built prior to 1725 – the largest number still standing and occupied of any community in the US.

Thanks again for visting my blog and maybe you will get a chance to visit Ipswich MA someday.

Thanks Doug,

I think I know the ice cream place too well. I think you are referring to Whites Farm.

Just checked out your site - http://dougmillerimages.com , nice captures. I particularly like the macro shots.

I just recently started to dappling with more macro images and got my start by reading Mark Johnson's book that I mentioned in a previous post.

Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment.

Now you've made me really miss New England! I am a Texan and now living back in Austin TX, a home I dearly love. Before moving back to Texas, I spent 8 years in New England and lived a good portion of that time in Newburyport. We used to make the drive over to the Clam Box at least once a week in the summer and stop on the way home at the homemade ice cream stand whose name I don't remember. Great shot by the way.
