Framing Selector Template ….

Been playing around with the idea of a quick way to see how an image might look when it is framed.

Several issues needed to be addressed -

  • What type of framing ?
  • Do you use a mat ?
  • Do you present the image in landscape or portrait orientation ?
  • Is the image better off as a panorama or maybe a square mounting ?

If you are a regular follower of this blog, you know that I like to do these “what ifs” with in Adobe Lightroom™.

Here is the results of my latest experiment -

frame-selector

If you would like to try out this template, here is the link -framing_selector

Note: to change the position of an image within a frame, toggle the identity plate to be behind the image as shown here -

Toggle

Then while holding down the Ctrl key, click on the image and reposition as desired. When satisfied, uncheck the “render behind image”.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks !

Do you sometimes wonder ….

Do sometimes wonder how your images may look hung on a wall in a gallery ?

Or maybe you are just not sure whether your image will look better Landscape framed or Portrait framed.

This got me thinking, what if you could do a simulation of images hung on a wall right within Lightroom. Never having to mat, frame or hang to see what it may look like finished.

I created a Print Template for the Lr PRINT Module, that allows you to select an image and using the template you can see what that image looks like hanging on a wall. Note: Some images because of the capture orientation or cropping may not work as well as others.

Can’t leave well enough alone

Seems as if I just can not leave well enough alone.

I just returned from a two week trip around the beautiful state of Oregon and have been going over some of my images.

I no sooner got to an image of the Yaquina Head Light when I started to play around with it inside Adobe Lightroom to see what effect I could apply that would make it different than just another lighthouse picture that I captured before.

Anyways here is the results of the experiment -

And here is image with Lightroom adjustment applied

I created a Lightroom Develop Module preset that may or may not work on your images. The preset can be downloaded here -neutral-tones.

Rounding things out ….

Lightroom presently allows you to add a stroke border to any image before printing.

(click on image for larger size)

However, in order to put a rounded corner the only option was to apply the effect within Photoshop.

I have created a Lightroom Template that will allow you to apply rounded corners to every image in your Lightroom catalog without leaving Lightroom.

The template presented here is presently designed for 5×7 output. When time permits I plan on creating different sizes options.

You can download the template here -> Lightroom Print Module Rounded Corner Template

Note !

  • Please follow the procedures provide by Adobe for installing presets within the specific Lightroom modules.
  • Need installation help - check out Matt Kloskowski’s video
  • It is highly recommended, whether you are installing these presets, others that you have found on the web or may have purchased elsewhere, to backup your Lightroom database before proceeding with the installation.

Look forward to your comments.
