I just attended a Photoshop CS3 Power Tour from Kelby Training.
The seminar was sold-out and was great as I expected. The seminar was hosted by award winning author Scott Kelby
If you are not familiar with Scott, he is down to earth guy with a great sense of humor. Just a decent guy.
I am self taught in the use of Photoshop and have gain my knowledge primarily from reading Scott’s books and listening to his Podcast. His books are clearly written for all skill levels and also come with a dose of Scott’s welcomed humor.
This the book that is referenced in Scott’s Power Tour –
Scott, along with the other Photoshop guys, has a podcast which you can find at http://www.photoshopusertv.com/ or on itunes and if you want some insight into the latest in Photoshop and Photography related items checkout his blog at http://www.scottkelby.com/.
Now about this image, the photo was captured in Rockport Harbor and what caught my eye was the yellow dingy. I just finished watching a podcast by one of Scott’s fellow National Association of Photoshop Professionals team – Matt Kloskowski.
Matt demonstrated how to achieve this effect totally in Adobe Lightroom.
You can read more at Matt’s Blog or Scott’s link.
I think it is a neat effect. Let me know what you think.

Rockport Revisted
Posted by Peter in Google Earth Locator Link, Massachusetts, Seascape on July 25th, 2007
Last night, at the spur of the moment, I decided to go to Rockport to see if the lighting was right for a good sunset image.
Though the sunset did not work out as planned, I was able to capture this image.

It was around 8:30 pm and I set my camera on my tripod, aperature priority mode and shutter operation to self timer.
Trying some new tools and techniques

Today I decided to try some of the techniques that I learned on Monday May 21st at the Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Seminar.
The seminar was taught by Scott Kelby -Director of Training, KW Computer Training.
The first image entiled ” Heading Out”, was taken from Wingaersheek Beach, Gloucester, MA and is towards Annisquam Light.

I did not make any major changes to this image other than some minor tonal adjustments. I did however decide to crop into a panoramic view and sharpened the image in Photoshop. I liked the relationship that developed between the fishing boat and the lighthouse created by removing some of the sky and beach.
The second image, “Motif #1 in Red” was also taken earlier today in Rockport, MA. Other than sharpening, I made all the image adjustments using Photoshop Lightroom. I wanted the focus to be on “Motif #1″, so I decided to “drain all the color, except the red hues. What resulted is what you see here.
